Building a pyro mansion for the 1988 TV series, Mission Impossible.

For the 1988 Mission Impossible series, I was hired to build a mansion that had to blow up... as they do.

I was given 4 weeks to do this. So only one side was to be built.

Some of the structure had to remain so it was built around a steel frame with sturdy timber.

People helped out by casting thousands of tiles to go on the roof so they will shatter in all directions when the explosion goes off.

It was a one take shot and set up outside with added structures and foliage.

The images look good but unfortunately, charges miss fired and most of it was unusable.

They ended up re-shooting by blowing up an enlarged photo and cutting that into shots of this. All very quick in the final cut.
